The bankruptcy of SV Kapfenberg in 1984 made it clear that resources were limited, but WAT Stadlau also had problems in the mid-1980s in being able to continue playing after several large investments and finally had to forego participation in the Bundesliga in 1985. For the 2011/12 season, Orli Znojmo was the first team from the Czech Republic to be accepted, which means that teams from five nations now took part in the game. On September 22, 2015, he became the first substitute in the Bundesliga to score five goals in a 5-1 home win against VfL Wolfsburg. Friedrichshafen set a new record with five championships in a row. Until the 1964/65 season, the Austrian championship was played in a single nationwide league called the Nationalliga A. In the 1996/97 season, however, the regular season was completely dispensed with, instead the three best Austrian teams in the Alpenliga were set for the playoff, the other three teams played out the last participant in a short repechage round. The budgets of the participating teams increased and more legionnaires were deployed. The success of the national team also caused the number of spectators in the Bundesliga clubs to rise, although from time to time the management was too generous, so that several teams just barely avoided bankruptcy. The teams sat down and decided to start again with reasonable budgets, which should also allow the participation of some teams who have migrated to the national league in recent years. Another decision was: "There will continue to be 6 clubs, the Bundesliga will only be increased to 8 clubs from 1968/69 – the National League will no longer be divided into A and B and there will also be 8 clubs there. The high level of debt of numerous clubs and the low transparency of their finances, which threatened the continued existence of all Spanish professional football, led to the passage of a law on October 15, 1990, which allowed the conversion of the clubs into so-called Sociedades anónimas deportivas (SAD) (Spanish for: sports stock corporations ) prescribed and regulated. Since 2004, Bird has played for various clubs in Europe during the WNBA off-season.
